LaVaun Jensen, born in
1910 in Glenwood, Utah. Her mother was a school teacher and her
father a farmer. There were six children in the family and she
was the first-born.

High school honor student. She rode
a horse to a neighboring town, Vermillion, to learn to marcell
hair and also worked hard helping her mother in the home
and her father with the farm work.

Country girl attends Utah State
University in 1928. LaVaun received her two-year normal degree
in teaching in 1930 and went to teach in a one-room school in
Cane County - the only position available at the time.

Married in 1930 to Vaun Herbert.
Shown here with their three children in 1941. Another child was
born in 1952.

She raised her family and taught
school from 1944 to 1975. Her dignity was always apparent, her
graciousness obvious and her integrity intact.

The Golden Years. Served a temple
mission in New Zealand alone at age 75.
LaVaun now has a large posterity of
grandchildren and great-grandchildren, of whom she is very
proud. She is lovingly known as Gram and revered and respected,
not only by her family, but by all who know her.
At age 94, she still lives
independently and remains curious, positive and is a pillar of
encouragement and strength to her large family.
