Tape Transcription - Since 1986
Valuable tape
recordings are hiding in the bottom of boxes, and at the back of
shelves.
These tapes
represent a mother-lode of valuable history waiting to be mined.
There may be an old
tape from mother’s funeral, a son’s missionary farewell, or the
tape Aunt Sue made with Grandma on her birthday. Each will
disclose stories and reveal family traditions not recorded in
histories or genealogy records.
Oral histories are usually recorded
on a cassette tape or other electronic recording devise. It is
then transcribed into a written format. The author of the
history may speak alone on the tape, or the dialogue may
represent an interview-type conversation between two people.
